Debi Watson - Director of Mentoring |
Debi and her husband Greg homeschool their three exuberant children in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where she also runs GWC Bookstore Canada; tries to finish her Master's degree in Political Economy; and saves the world in her spare time (in no particular order!). In addition to mentoring at home, Debi is extremely involved in the community. A Thomas Jefferson Education has become a guiding book in her life. She is currently helping write the constitution for a society in her area based on its principles, as well as running a pilot project for homeschoolers where she is building bridges between the government regulations regarding schooling and the tenets of TJEd. She loves to learn, teach, and participate in colloquia, and is particularly excited about her opportunity to help serve women world wide through The Art of Womanhood. Although her passport is Canadian, Debi reads and writes anywhere people let her stay on their couch (yes, she is angling for invitations!). She is hard at work on the third book in her forthcoming "Scholar-Mom" series: Dancing Off the Conveyor Belt. Watch for her first two books, Do Scholar-Moms Scrub Toilets? and Ten Windmills and How to Joust Them: A Scholar-Mom's Guide to Overcoming Common Obstacles, coming soon. |
| Julie Hansen - Director of Admissions | |
After a successful career of 10 years as an east coast regional manager and then a gourmet foods business owner, Julie found herself married, a mom, and purposefully unemployed. This transition was hard and made her wonder what in the world to do all day! Luckily, she met a group of mentoring moms that taught her the true art of being fulfilled and joyfully present at home with her family. Ultimately, what started as a desire to learn the best parenting tips, ended up in a character building and habit training experience for herself. She counts herself very fortunate to continue this pursuit with an organization that shares her core beliefs. Julie believes in the wonderful potential that is inside of all of us and knows first hand what wonderful transformations can happen if they are based on true principles. After having enjoyed the benefits and joys of being closely mentored over the last five years, she knew she had to give back. She truly feels her cup running over because it has been so generously filled and instructed. She lives with her husband, who is her most important mentor and friend, and her two children in the Washington D.C. metro area. She enjoys teaching her children, walking to everything, museums, mentoring, correspondence, and wakeboarding. |

| JoAnne Burrows - Director of Publications | |
JoAnne Burrows comes to the Board with a strong desire to master the Art of Womanhood for herself and hopes to be able to inspire her daughters and the women around her in the process. Twenty plus years as a Registered Nurse, working in Intensive Care and Emergency Rooms can't compare with the adrenalin rush that comes to her as a stay-at-home mom spending each day with her four wonderful children and her patient, supportive, husband. They, along with God, are her greatest passion in life. Her other loves include reading, learning, discussion, camping, gardening, family reunions, and serving those around her, when she can. "Life is so good and it can only get better as we seek to improve ourselves and the world around us." |
